We Must Not Forget The Hostages
Amidst all that is going on in Gaza, we must not forget the hostages being held by Hamas
Around early 1990, Terry Waite, the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Special Envoy, who had been held hostage in Beirut for three years, and in solitary, unexpectedly received a postcard from a Joy Brodier in the UK. It was sent with little hope that it would reach him, and simply stated that he was not alone and that everyone was praying for his release and that of the other hostages in Beirut. That postcard meant a great deal for Terry Waite, and upon his release over eighteen months later, he mentioned the impact that postcard had on him.
At the moment there are believed to be over twenty hostages being held by Hamas in Gaza. Many in poor health and some on the point of death. They have been held for nearly two years and it may well be that they feel forgotten and wonder if they will ever be freed.
